Lynn Gertenbach was born in Wisconsin, and received her formal art
Education at the Colorado Institute of Art, Denver and the Art Center School of Design, Los Angeles. She also attended the University of CA. Los Angeles, and studied with well known artists Sergei Bongart, Phillip Gilkerson, Bettina Steinke and Bernard Dunstan. Gertenbach has a spirit of adventure and began traveling around the world when she was 21. She spent many days in Europe’s great museums drawing knowledge from the Masters. Gertenbach is especially fond of India, and has visited and painted in the country six times.
Lynn lived in Laguna Beach during in the early part of her career and exhibited at the Laguna Art Festival as well as participation in a group show at the Laguna Museum of Art. She had a one woman show at the Brand Library with her India works, hosted by LACMA’s Dr. Pratap Pal. She has exhibited in the Pacific Asia museum, the Carnegie Museum, the Fredrick Weisman Museum, Malibu, the Haggin Museum,and the Isetan museum, Tokyo. This is Lynn's second year to be invited to exhibit in the Masters of the American West show at the Autry museum.
Lynn was inducted into the Hall of Fame and received the Life Achievement award from the Colorado Institute of Art. She has also exhibited in the Denver Rotary “Artist’s of America” show from 1994-97.
Her work has been purchased by the prestigious California Club as well as the So. Ca. Edison Co.
She has been commissioned to paint many celebrity portraits, among them, Maestro Zubin Mehta, Maestro Ravi Shankar, Tippi Hedren, Eva Gabor, and other corporate executives.
She has received numerous best of show awards in National art competitions, and continues to teach workshops in the U.S. and in Europe.
In April 2015 Lynn is invited to speak and teach at the annual Plein Air convention in Monterey,CA.for the second year.
Lynn is a signature member of Plein Air painters of America, Oil Painters of America, and the California Art Club where she also serves on the board of Advisors.
